I’ve reached a stage, where I find myself stirring up memories from decades ago. People, places and situations .... high school dances .... life in suburbia .... learning my first guitar finger picking styles with my ears glued to the hi-fi speaker .... then 10 years living in Austria, falling into the music scene, recording and touring concerts all over Europe ....my first band ‘Jack’s Angels’... on stage with Joan Baez ... Vienna 1969 ...... falling in love ... marriage ... recording with Alexis Korner and Mick Taylor of the ‘Stones’ in London, ‘Ihre Kinder’ in Germany ...etc ... and finally moving back to Toronto in ‘74 and coming full circle into the present.
With most of these tunes I’ve dusted off a few of my back pages and re-interpreted ‘old school’ music that provided the soundtrack to my life.
I lovingly dedicate these ‘new songs and old stories’ to all my European friends and loyal fans from bygone days, but also to the young people, who grew up with my children’s music and are now adults (parents?) themselves. My gratitude and thanks to Hertha, my life partner, who is the subject and inspiration to a number of these songs. I’m blessed with our two lovely daughters, Carina and Cosima and our ...(can you believe it).. 5 grandchildren! If and when they ever listen to these tunes, I wonder if their perception of grandpa will change.
Go well, stay well - Jack
