LISTEN TO THE MUSIC
Music, it can bring back a memory
Fill your soul with deep longing
Fill your heart with a joy
Words can never say
Listen to the music
Let it soar like a bird up high
Let it open your heart like a flower
And gently empower you
Throughout the day
Listen to the music with all of your heart
Pullin' you closer, feel your part
Singin' the sweetest melody
And teaching us to live in harmony
Children singin’, it’s a global song
Hear the love in their hearts when they’re singin’ strong
When people listen you can do no wrong
It's the bell of the universe ‘ding, dang, dong’
Clear as the sun at the break of day
Expressing love more than words can say
Music
Let it show all the beauty before me
Let it show all the beauty behind me
Here and now and all around me
Wherever I may go
Listen to the music
Let it open the windows to the world
Let it teach us about each other
With respect for my sisters and brothers
Forever more
Music - listen to the music (repeat 4x)

PATIENCE OF A SAILOR
Here you are at last
Long lost poem
A page out of my past
Anticipation
Quench my thirst
I’m yours, fill this glass
Light a candle in your window
Draw me closer
Guide me to your door
Seeking refuge, seeking comfort
Let me rest
I would lie upon your floor
I’ve been waiting for you
With the patience of a sailor
Craving all the love you hold in store
I will tow the line
With the patience of a sailor
Time just distant waves upon the shore
On these waters of illusion
And confusion
You are my lifeboat
Feel the weight of the world
Amazing grace
Keeping me afloat
I’ve been waiting for you
With the patience of a sailor
Home from the battle, from the war
I’ve been waiting for you
With the patience of a sailor
Home to the harbour and the shore
Blessed be the man
Who stops living by the ticking of the hours

SLEET & THE RAIN
Driving through the night, darkness calls my name
Hey ho – the sleet and the rain
Another storm, another hurricane
High beams on and it’s no surprise
The trees are ghosts playing tricks on my eyes
The radio’s got a cracklin’ voice
Gotta stay tuned, I ain’t got no choice
Temperature rising to a high degree
Still the chills have got a hold on me
I got a hammer poundin’ in my head
It’s been a long time since I’ve been in bed
Thinking about you right here and now
Makes the distance seem so long somehow
I’m leaning over the dotted line
Is it climate change or the edge of time?
Help me make it through the night
Lead me home with your guiding light

HARD LIGHTS
A change of time, a shift in the wind
Perceptive eye, a feeling within
You re-access your happiness
Clear cut, defined, a perfect line
It tugs at the heart like the string of a kite
Inspired flashes in the night
Reaching out to touch the moon
See the universe inside this room
Talkin’ ‘bout those hard lights
That change your point of view
That burst out of the blue
And touch the deepest part of you
Those hard lights
That cut right through the dark
That leave you with a spark
A revelation [repeat]
A change of time, a shift in the wind
Perceptive eye, a feeling within
You re-access your happiness
Clear cut, defined, a perfect line
It’s mathematics, it’s geometry
Fibonacci numbers, life’s mystery
It’s chakra wheels, swirling energy
It’s the cosmic footprint of our destiny
Talkin’ ‘bout those hard lights
That change your point of view
That burst out of the blue
And touch the deepest part of you
Those hard lights
That cut right through the dark
That leave you with a spark
A revelation [repeat]
[gospel breakdown]
Hard lights shining from the heavens above
Fill your heart with waves of love
Sun so bright, you will never stray
Make you fall down on your knees and pray
Hard lights hit you like a gospel choir
Rock your soul with a burning desire
Like the dawning of a brand new day
Hard lights chase the darkness away
Yes, the good Lord said “let there be light”
Your gift of knowledge, power of sight
Higher intelligence
Enlightenment and reverence
Rise up, stand up, truly see
Who you are truly meant to be
The power station in your sky
Streaming love, let your spirit fly
Talkin’ ‘bout those hard lights
That change your point of view
That burst out of the blue
And touch the deepest part of you
Those hard lights
That cut right through the dark
That leave you with a spark
A revelation [repeat]
I’m talking about a celebration
I’m talking about inspiration
I’m talking about education
I’m talking about illumination
Talking about a meditation
Talking about communication
I’m talking about those hard lights
Those head lights, those flashing lights
Those search lights, those spot lights
Those guiding lights, the sunlight
Light is love, love is light, those hard lights

GIFT OF WINGS
Show me days of wonder
New roads to travel on
Help me make discoveries
Teach me a brand new song
Show me where I come from
So much to realize
Show me where I’m going to
And open up my eyes
If you will take me heart
If you will teach me all these things
You’re giving me the gift of wings
Show me all the beauty
Everywhere to see
Open up the gate
Set my imagination free
Teach me to express myself
In many different ways
Build my sense of worthiness
For all of my days
Help me find my colours
Help me bring them to the light
So that I may paint my dreams
Strong and beautiful and bright
Teach the joy of learning
To make the magic last
I’ll take into the future
All the love in my past

TRAIN STATION BLUES
(NEW VERSION)
I got the train station blues
Sitting here, what is this road I choose?
When I lose, I really lose
And here I go again, I’m leaving you
So many years, a million tears
Itinerary in my pocket
I hear your voice, I got no choice
I’m on the road again - I’m leaving you
I got the train station blues
It’s winter time, but way too cold today
From my head down to my shoes
I feel a chill inside, I’m leaving you
Well now I’m on the train
The scenery is so familiar
The steel wheel mantra
Reminding me that I’ll be gone from you
I’m leaving you, I’m leaving you
And all the love and tenderness
You gave to me
I got the train station blues
Travelling ‘round from town to town
Singing my pain, each town the same
And here I go again - I’m leaving you
I got the train station blues
How many times have I said to you
“Good bye, I’ll be back soon”
I’m on the road again - I’m leaving you
I’m half awake, half asleep
The steel wheel rhythm so familiar
Lean on my guitar case
I still feel your embrace
I’m leaving you, I’m leaving you
And all the love and tenderness
You gave to me

BELIEVE IN A WORLD
There’s a camera in your face
There’s a tracker in your car
All the slogans, all the phrases
That don’t tell you who you are
They can tap into my brain
But they’ll never leave a scar
For I believe, I believe, I believe
I believe in a world
You can walk with the crowd
You can laugh at the funny man
You can turn out all the lights
But you’ve gotta understand
They have got you in their sights
Got you chipped, got you scanned
Still I believe, I believe, I believe
I believe in a world
People come people go
No one knows any names
And the troops they obey
Like toy soldiers in a game
Casting doubt spreading fear
False flags who’s to blame
I still believe, I believe, I believe
I believe in a world
Can we change anything?
A thousand questions in my head
Drop a pebble in the water
Watch the tiny ripples spread
And the walls they will burst
All these shackles we’ll shed
Cause we believe, we believe
We believe, we believe, we believe
In a better world

CREST OF THE WAVE
There’s a job to be done, there’s work to do
Work for me and you
If we pull together we can get things done
We can see it through
Sister, brother helping each other
Work to make it work
It’s a never ending story
Every day we start anew
If we all think globally
Act a little bit more locally
Steer this boat of ‘humanity’
Fill your heart with love and be brave
All the things we need to address
Give a little more, take a little less
When we rise above the feeling of helplessness
We can sail on the crest of the wave
The crest of the wave
Get on the ship of humanity
We can sail on the crest of the wave,
The crest of the wave
Gotta seize the day in our work and play
Join this circle dance
Gotta take care of this planet now
No matter what the circumstance
Gotta spread the word, stand up and be heard
We need to educate
With our hearts in place we will live in grace
You know it’s never too late
PUT ANOTHER LOG ON THE FIRE
On this road my heart is wandering
Reaching out to hear the sound
Of that sweet familiar music
To let me know I’m homeward bound
Put another log on the fire
Keep that fire going strong
Gonna be a long long journey
I’ve been waiting for so long
I thank the stars for all the kindness
That touched my soul to help me see
Like a needle in a compass
Love lights the way so pointedly
I’ve heard it said, I believe it’s true
There's a fire burning deep inside of you
A bright light deep inside of you

CLOSE TO THE MUSIC
It’s a sound that heals like a gentle word
A soothing voice, a singing bird
Music fills my heart, music still unheard
Gotta get close to the music
Never wanted glitter, never cared for rings
Golden chains or shiny things
Never felt grounded on a glossy floor
I’ll hang around at the door
Don’t need riches to feel secure
The song empowers me, I know for sure
The joy it brings, so strong and pure
Gotta stay close to the music
Do you believe it’s true, that your thoughts can cure?
When you speak from the heart, it’s a magic allure
Say it in your own words, no borrowed rhymes
The truth is in the silence between the lines
Never trusted sentimental words too sweet
Don’t act too tidy, don’t dress too neat
Don’t censor yourself, be simple and true
And the light of grace will glow from you
Stumbling through life, all my alibis
False pretences and my fake disguise
Sweet harmony, it calls my name
Gets me back on my feet and I forget the pain
I can hear the music inside my head
Ring those bells, I’ll steer ahead
Politicians promise a pie in the sky
They ought to get close to the music
I need to sing these songs to be inspired
No need for adulation or to be admired
Melody’s arrow, straight and true
Aims at the target, the soul in you (1st verse

A RIVER FLOWS BY HERE
A river flows by here
Bless your eyes, bless your ears
A liquid highway, reflecting skyway
From Turner to Monet
An ever changing display
For inspiration, imagination
A river flows by here
Every day of the year
A constant change, and still the same
The water cycle dance
An earth and seas romance
A celebration, purification
River flow like the blood of creation
River flow, it’s life’s irrigation
A river flows by here
Brings music to my ears
Whispering moonlight
Shimmering sunlight
Listen to the water, hear the river sigh
A song of living, a song of dying

HEADLINE IN THE PRESS
I heard the news by word of mouth
Her one-time lover from the south
Came back and shot you down without warning
I felt a sense of cold defeat
As a car stalled on the snow-filled street
All that I could say was ‘god I’m freezing’
My hands so numb, they couldn’t feel
The incident seemed so unreal
Like the plot of some cheap old fashioned movie
A happy couple on the run
From a jealous man with a loaded gun
Seeking revenge without mercy
And it’s so hard to comprehend
When it happens to your friend
The world like the wind drifts on by
Just a picture on the TV screen
Just a headline in the press
Old buddy, I am wiser now I guess
Yes yes yes
I remember when it all began
You said you were my biggest fan
You put me to the test, I freed the prisoner
You said that you believed in me
And you gave me so much energy
You pointed out the road to my horizon
So often we’d sit ‘round the fire
Singing songs, getting high
Your lady serving Burgundy wine
Oh yes, she was beautiful
When she stood there at your funeral
Everybody’s eyes were fixed upon her
(chorus)
But this all happened years ago
It really only goes to show
Memories are all that we can cling to
We wave good bye to yesterday
Someone said that she’s ok
And I’m still on the road to my horizon
Sometimes in winter on the street
I feel a sense of cold defeat
And mutter to myself ‘god I’m freezing’

LIKE A FLOWER TO THE SUN
Like a flower to the sun
In the morning when the day has begun
Reaching for the radiant glow
Every living thing with such a longing to grow
Like a river to the sea
Flowing wild and flowing free
We are drawn to the magic song
That lifts us up and makes us strong
Like a moth towards the light
Like the day that surely follows the night
Like a bird that needs to fly
Everyone is reaching for that bright open sky
Like the winds across the plain
Like the ocean tides that come again and again
We’re ever turning ‘round and ‘round
On our journey to a higher ground
Like a mother to her child
With a soothing voice so tender and mild
With the smile her lips impart
Her love shines through and tugs at the heart
Hear the calling of the loon
Hear the lone wolf howling at the moon
Hear the pretty songbird sing
It’s the song of the earth filled with deep longing
Six billion flowers to the sun
Reaching and yearning
And longing
To be one

CHILDREN NEED THE SUNSHINE
Children need the sunshine
Children need a space
To move about, to laugh and shout
And make a funny face
They need so much love and care
They need to stay free
To make a better world tomorrow
It all depends on you and me
The little individuals will look you in the eyes
Come down to their level and you will realize
They look for your sincerity
So lay your cards down flat
Take your time to win their love
Cause they can see through that, see through that
I’ve heard it said by someone, that we try to undo
In the first half of our lives
To change our parents point of view
The second half, it follows
Like the chorus in a song
What we say to our children
Might someday turn out wrong, turn out wrong
And I hope it isn’t so
That we’ll let the children grow
And leave the river to it’s natural flow

TAKE THESE HANDS
My precious, my love
What can I give you?
I’m a poor man
I can’t buy you the mountains
I’m a poor man
I can’t buy you the rivers
Or the dew in the morning
Take these hands
They’re all I can give you
They’re all that I have
To touch you, to hold you
I’m a poor man
I can’t buy you the sunlight
I’m a poor man
I can’t buy you the moon glow
But if you’ll take these hands
These hands mean my life
My food and my shelter
They’ll comfort you
Caress you and kiss you
From the thundering storms
These hands will protect you
In the cold night
These hands they will warm you
When you stumble
These hands they will aid you
They will love all they can

CELLO
My life was filled with music
Since the day that I was born
My daddy played the cello
And every Sunday morning
He would take me to the orchestra
To hear the symphony
And from the cello section
He would smile and wink at me
He was quiet, he was gentle
And when I heard him play
I knew that music was his language
He spoke to me this way
And though my heart was beating
To the sound of a different drum
I never would have thought
That a musician I'd become
Music was his greatest love
And he shared that love with me
Music was his greatest love
And he shared that love with me
Now he is an old man
His hands no longer strong
His cello in the corner
Like an old and graceful swan
His time for making music
Has come and it has gone
But I still hear him playing
On and on and on

THE PRINCE IN LOVE IS ME
Just another spring day I was on my way
Taking in the old town scene
I was walking by a street café
And there you were, my dream
In your polka dot dress, a bow in your hair
Surrounded by your friends in style
They called me over to pull up a chair
And when I looked, I caught your smile
And it makes no sense to wonder why
It’s a play, a fantasy
A theatre, a fairy tale
The prince in love is me
Well before I could stutter a sound from my lips
We were strolling away from that crowd
Up the narrow streets to the old museum
Pretty plain to see I was proud
Little things you said went straight to my head
Your laughter could heal any pain
Your knowing look, that fateful hook
A million sparks inside my brain
Then we went on a date to see a funny film
Richard Lester was playing it cool
And your candy bag was crackling loud
While the Romans contradicted the rule
And after the show I took you home
I still can feel your tender hand
I became your love struck Romeo
And Juliette, you had it planned
